Project Details

The Atlanta Hawks, as part of a joint venture with the Atlanta-Fulton Country Recreation Authority ownership, executed a $220 million major overhaul of the 18-year-old Philips Arena in Atlanta. The new arena has become a focal point of the multi-billion-dollar downtown sports and entertainment destination adjacent to the Centennial Yards development. Amenities include expanded sightlines to the basketball court, a courtside bar, Top Golf simulation suites, open party decks, VIP suites and premium clubs, numerous dining options of all varieties, and also sponsored areas such as Killer Mike’s SWAG Shop and Zac Brown’s Atlanta Social Club for musical performances. The multi-level, open concept layout has produced a more intimate, hospitality-style experience raising the bar for fan expectations for all future sport venues.  Lux et Veritas was engaged, not for their sports experience, but for their hospitality expertise. The dramatic and warm lighting is a drastic departure from the normal blanket of even cool white lighting in traditional sports venues. The transformation of this venue has been wildly successful and is being used a benchmark by sports venues throughout the country on new projects.
