Project Details

Balsam Mountain Preserve, located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is a unique environment where members come to enjoy the amenities and activities on the grounds. While maintaining an ethos of environmental stewardship and preservation of the land, members can enjoy a round of golf on an Arnold Palmer course or use the equestrian facilities, hiking trails, a state-of-the-art pool, wellness center and enjoy many other activities throughout the year. Driven by the natural surroundings and the Developer’s dedication to sustainability, the lighting design utilizes high efficiency fixtures with minimal glare and warm color temperatures to emulate a cozy cottage in the mountains.  In the bar, linear uplights on the beams provide comfortable ambient lighting while emphasizing the rustic, pitched ceiling.  Outdoor spaces were illuminated with low level fixtures so as to not obstruct the view of the mountains, and purposefully placed accent lighting to highlight some of the natural design elements and outdoor fireplace.  The Preserve is a sanctuary where nature plays the starring role and thanks to the Balsam Mountain Trust, it will remain an untouched oasis for generations to come.
